Long Time No Blog

Hi All,

Its been quite a while since I have done a blog. I will be starting a new blog on my new business website once I have the time to complete the design and scripting.

Speaking of business, I have recently designed up some new business cards, very minimalistic style for Triverse Designs. I think they came out not too bad for my first batch of print products.

Also, I have recently launched a new community driven based website for local Gold Coast photographer and all round top bloke, Trevor Ross. Check out his new website SurfPhotos at www.surfphotos.com.au

Its been up nearly two weeks now and has received awesome feedback and is getting plenty of hits. Big things coming for this website so keep checking it out.

On another note, I just purchased the new Silverstein album, A Shipwreck In The Sand, yes I know it is a bit emo, but has some great vocals and lyrics.

The new albums keeps the older vocals but mixes it with more melodies and I tend to see a bit more rock into some of the songs than previous albums. All round I would give the album a 4 out of 5. Vices is without a doubt the best track on the album. Worth a purchase.

Anyway thats all from me, stay tuned for a longer post soon!

Friday The 13th

Well, Im not talking about the date, Im talking about the New Movie, Friday The 13th.

Basically a remake of the first two Friday the 13th movies mixed with something new.
Starring Jared Padalecki, from the popular, Supernatural Series.

This remake will keep new fans and old fans happy. The beginning of the movie starts off by throwing new fans into the world of Jason Voorhees, while the whole movie stays true to the original slasher film title and the Friday the 13th Story.

Some may say, well hey what about Jason X and Freddy VS Jason, they weren't as good the earlier Friday the 13th movies, but they are wrong. This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat, from start to finish.

I went to see Friday the 13th with my friend James and the intro, what to say about the intro, absolutely amazing. One of the best introductions to a movie made in a long while.

In my eyes, Friday the 13th has gone one step further and pushed horror/slasher films to a new level with the help of the team at ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), blurring the borders of real and special effects. Although giving the Australian audience a R(18+) rating, limiting its audience.

One change that surprised me was that actor, Derek Mears, played Jason Voorhees, opposed to Kane Hodder, who played Jason so well in previous films.

A sure fire hit and a must see for any horror/slasher movie fan.

Thats all for now, go out and see it while its still in the cinemas! Definitely a movie to add to your collection once available on DVD.

New Cup

Well my Mum just recently went on a P&O Cruise, narrowly avoiding the category 4 Cyclone up around Cairns.

She brought me back this funky, epileptic fit creating cup.

Its been a while...

Well its been a while since I have written a post. I have been quite busy trying to create a new website layout I'm happy with for my business.

I recently purchased a book, "How To Be A WordPress Rockstar", which is about working with and creating WordPress based websites. It is a very good read, and goes in depth with everything you will need to know to get you started into just about any WordPress based website. For anyone who doesn't know what WordPress is, it is a CMS (content management system), which basically means that the website can be updated without any scripting knowledge. They are great websites to build.

I prefer to used a CMS known as Drupal, which is great for most websites, but there comes a time when I may need to use WordPress, as its become the most popular CMS being used. But it is more of a Blogging system than anything, but still gets used as a CMS as it does act like a CMS quite a bit.

There is also Joomla, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but am feeling that I may need to learn to use that CMS as well, but thats last on my list for the time being.

I am also trying to learn a new eCommerce based system known as Magento, which is becoming very popular very fast. Its feature rich and has everything you need from the word go to run an online store.

Anyway this is becoming too much of a geeky post, so I'll stop there because you probably have already stopped reading. I will post some more interesting blogs soon.

New Macbook Pro Arrived

Hi all,

Its been a very busy couple of days. My new Macbook Pro arrived on Monday just after lunch. So I was quickly on my way home as soon as it was time to knockoff. Had dinner, then decided to un-box and backup files from my old Macbook Pro and transfer them onto my NEW Macbook Pro.

It took me from about 730pm till approx 130pm as I didnt have any firewire 800 cables, so I had to backup to my external hard drive then transfer back onto my new macbook pro.

Apple has taken care with its new design with the packaging and the machine itself. Focusing on being environmentally friendly, nearly every part of the machine plus its packing is high on the environmentally friendly items list, gaining the highly sort after EPA Gold label.

I tested it out at work today and it went amazing, truly a dream. Even using the better battery life graphics card all graphic work went with ease and was not glitchy or slow. Cannot wait to test in performance mode.

Also another surprise was the inclusion of the new iLife 09 package, which has some amazing enhancements to the entire bundle of applications, especially iMovie and garageband. In garageband you can even learn the guitar in a way which can only be explained by saying, its like you really have someone there teaching you.

This is the end of my post for the night, not enough sleep over the past few nights, so I leave you with some shots of my new Macbook Pro.

The Moxy - Itunes Purchase

Hi All,

I have been awaiting this EP release by a band titled The Moxy.
I first heard them on a BAM movie, BAM: Where the %$^# is Santa?. They have a great sound, and show a lot of promise for a young band. The Moxy has a female lead singer and gives some great vocals to every single track on the album, especially my favourite, Step Down.

Definitely check them out and if you like their sound, I suggest purchasing the 6 song EP from Itunes.

Check them out on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/themoxysound

On another note, Thursday are releasing their much anticipated album, Common Existance, on the 17th of February.
The new album brings the band to a new level and has a couple of guest vocals, one being from the likes of Tim McIlrath from Rise Against. Have a listen to "Resuscitation of a Dead Man" on their myspace at: http://www.myspace.com/thursday
Resuscitation of a Dead Man is also available for purchase from iTunes as a single. Great song if you like your Thursday, you will truly love this song.

Thats all from me for today, more to come in the coming days...

qabonline.com

Well this is a little blog about a website I created and currently do administration of to some extend. The website, www.qabonline.com , created for the Queensland Association of Bodyboarding is a website for all the Queensland affiliated clubs and for Queensland Assocation of Bodyboarding, or QAB, itself.

On the site there will be postings of photos, news, competition results, upcoming competitions, competitions just for members, and boy do the members get benefits, exlcusive access to the online competitions, their own profile, newsletters and much more.

The website is updated by various members of the Gold Coast Bodyboard Club (GCBC), the Sunshine Coast Bodyboard Club (SCBC) and Headlanders Bodyboard Club (HBC) as well as myself and a few special contributors to the site inlcuding camera man Trevor Ross of surfphotos.com.au.

Go ahead and check out the site, its still early days but expect it to be the center of bodyboarding in Queensland for 2009 and into the future.

Dbah Surf Session

Well there was some semi high hopes for waves this morning, Sunday the 18th of January at Dbah. But alas the waves did not quite co-operate. But it was still some fun, 2 - 3ft peaks coming in now and then.

I met up with the infamous Trevor Ross along with Marty, Timmy Roy and Nat.

We got some fun waves early, I only really got two good waves and then called it a day after a few hours.

Hopefully next weekend will produce some good waves...
